Summer Reading Program 2021

Explore the animal kingdom right in Indian River! Our reading program is open to all whether you have a library card or not, whether you are 1 year old or 100 years old and whether you can come to 1 event or all of them. Join us for an hour long presentation about best beekeeping practices in Northern Michigan from local beekeeper, Jim Anglewicz. He will discuss topics such as beekeeping history, how bees are managed today, products of the hive, the role of bees and other pollinators in today’s world, and the special challenges of keeping bees in Northern Michigan. There will be time after the talk for audience questions. Register here to ensure your spot on June 4th from 5-6 p.m. This event will be held in the Tuscarora Township Meeting Room.


We are inviting our Summer Reading Program participants to enjoy a show featuring a variety of live mammals, reptiles, and birds for an unforgettable experience! This event is on June 16th at 7 p.m. in the Tuscarora Township Meeting Room. Space is limited, so register here if you would like to attend.


In both animation and comic book form, animals are often the stars. This unique library program is presented by Marvel Comic illustrator Jerry De Claire. As quickly as the eye can follow, art and fantasy are created in this live drawing performance. Marvel characters illustrated by Jerry include, but aren’t limited to: Thor, X-Men, Wolverine, Conan, Punisher, Iron Man, Nick Fury, The Phantom, and more. Join us for a nature walk at the Agnes S. Andreae Nature Preserve where we will observe animals and animal footprints as we walk along the trail! This walk will take place from 10-11:30 a.m. on July 21st. We will be meeting in the parking lot for the Andreae Nature Preserve. Register here if you would like to participate in the fun!
