Covid Test Kits

Test kits are available on a first come, first serve basis as a CURBSIDE ONLY service. To obtain a test kit, visit the Library during business hours, call our desk at (231) 238-8581, let us know the make/model/color of your vehicle and we will bring the kit(s) out to you while you stay in your car.

Rules for the kits:

  • We can offer one box per person, up to five per household.
  • The kit includes simple instructions to self-administer the test, at home. Library staff cannot help administer tests.
  • Eligibility: Anyone interested in a free test, regardless of whether they have Covid-19 symptoms.

Self-Testing Instructions / Fast Facts

The Indian River Area Library (IRAL) has partnered with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) on a pilot project with libraries across the state to offer free, at-home COVID-19 testing kits for Michiganders. IRAL received 300 COVID-19 at-home test kits that each include two tests, including instructions. Additional kits will be shipped to participating libraries as needed and more libraries will be added to the distribution in the coming weeks. Information will be posted at Michigan.gov/coronavirus.
